Arrived at SAZB-9B mooring 1600 EST yesterday. Located mooring and was successful in establishing communication. Unfortunately, the mooring failed to rise to the surface despite repeated acknowledged release commands. All indications are that the mooring has not in fact released from its anchor. We waited until 1200 EST today and re-sent the release commands multiple times since our arrival on site. As there was no movement from its location either horizontally or vertically in the 20 hours since the initial release attempt, we have reluctantly decided to depart. We plan on conducting 2 more CTD test casts in shallow water off the shelf break then return to Hobart. Our ETA is 1530 to pick up the pilot but this may be delayed until after 1900 if we need to search for a suitable CTD site. Regards Peter
