Comments

Performed static load test on CTD winch wire and a test cast to 750m depth using a test weight. Conditions were marginal on a rising wind and sea. Rigged the CTD instrument ready to deploy, but decided to halt operations as all indications were that the wind & swell would continue to rise, and we needed a 2 hour time window for a successful deployment. Secured gear and departed for the 47 S mooring site in deteriorating conditions. As expected, the weather continued to deteriorate and we have not been able to hold course and speed. At present we are maneuvering to make some progress while minimising roll. A rough night for all. Regards Peter
