Where operationally possible, mail will be supported on flights to Antarctica. All mail must be received 10 days prior to the scheduled departure of the flight. Please be aware that there are restrictions on what can be sent as mail, please see the Mail information webpage for more information or contact cargo.planning@aad.gov.au.

Purpose of voyage: Tourist voyage. Dates may change
Comments: Subject to the agreement of the ship operator this voyage is available for possible transfer of personnel and limited personal effects to or from Macquarie Island. Managers proposing to use this voyage must meet all associated berth and travel costs. The AAD will not support the delivery of mail or cargo from Macquarie Island on this voyage. Personnel using this voyage must satisfy Australian Customs, Quarantine and Immigration requirements.

Comments: Prior to the departure of Voyage 2 from Hobart on 2 December, the Aurora Australis will undertake marine science equipment trials in coastal waters near Hobart, and equipment calibration at Port Arthur. The trials will also be used to undertake safety training for Voyage 2, Voyage 3 and Voyage 5 personnel who are required to work on the trawl deck. Personnel who have that role or who need to set up laboratories while the ship is at sea should contact Peter Wiley (61) 03 6232 3106 to add their names to the list of personnel participating in the trial cruise.

Comments: Where possible and subject to the availability of cargo space on Voyage 2, Marine Science and general support containers required for Voyage 3 will be loaded in Hobart on Voyage 2 to reduce the cost of later shipment as freight to Fremantle. Enquiries about the delivery of Voyage 3 equipment for loading on Voyage 2 should be directed to Cargo and copied to the Voyage Leader or Deputy Voyage Leader.
