The Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) facilitates the import and export of cargo for the Australian Antarctic Program (AAP). The AAD relies on the consignment information entered into Econ, by a cargo consignor, to meet regulatory and legislative requirements. Cargo consignors are obligated to correctly, and accurately describe the goods (cargo) that are sent and packed for on forwarding to the AAD.

All Econ cargo consignments must be submitted (in Econ) at least 30 days before the scheduled departure for the relevant AAP flight or voyage. If cargo is not reported correctly and accurately, it may be precluded from being packed to the nominated transport and may cause delays in cargo clearances or cargo delivery.

All Return To Australia (RTA) cargo is subject to compliance with the Customs Act 1901, and the conditions of cargo are subject to the Biosecurity Act 2015. Cargo must be cleared by regulatory bodies before cargo is released to the AAD. After cargo is released to the AAD, cargo is on-forwarded to receivers/owners, as listed in corresponding Econ consignments.
