The Australian Antarctic Program Expeditioner Summits bring together all expeditioners heading south to Antarctica and Macquarie Island in 2024/25.

Expeditioner Summit

The Expeditioner Summit delivers the foundation pre-departure training required to onboard and ensure the safety of our expeditioners, build community and provide a comprehensive season overview of the Australian Antarctic Program. It is mandatory for everyone staying on station for longer than 14 days or participating in a voyage. This training takes place in Hobart over several days, immediately prior to being deployed.

You will be advised by email of the Summit dates that you need to attend. The AAD reserves the right to exclude any expeditioner from Antarctic service if they do not attend the prescribed training program.

The 4-day Summits deliver the mandatory foundation training required to onboard and ensure the safety of our expeditioners, build community and provide a comprehensive season overview of the Australian Antarctic Program.

There will now be 4 Summit training weeks held in Hobart from August through to the end of February.
