One Antarctic slug to confuse them all: the underestimated diversity of Doris kerguelenensis Invertebrate Systematics, 2022 (Ref: 16586)
Category 1: Peer-reviewed literature

The Antarctic marine environment, although rich in life, is predicted to experience rapid and significant effects from climate change. Despite a revolution in the approaches used to document biodiversity…

Genomic Introgression and Adaptation of Southern Seabird Species Facilitate Recent Polar Colonization Molecular Biology and Evolution, 2025 (Ref: 17298)
Category 1: Peer-reviewed literature

Genomic adaptation and introgression can occur during the speciation process, enabling species to diverge in their frequencies of adaptive alleles or acquire new alleles that may promote adaptation to environmental changes.

Report on fish by-catch in the exploratory toothfish fishery in Divisions 58.4.1 and 58.4.2 between 2014 and 2020 CCAMLR Thirty-ninth Meeting of the Scientific Committee, Online, 22 - 26 October 2020, Delegation of France and Australia (only AAD authors listed), 2020 (Ref: 16962)
Authors:
Category 2: International meeting papers

In this paper, we report on fish by-catch during exploratory fishing activities undertaken in Divisions 58.4.1 and 58.4.2 during the period 2014 to 2020. Fish by-catch comprised 12 species or groups of species. In 2019 and 2020, exploratory fishing occurred exclusively in research block 58.4.

Report on fish by-catch during Dissostichus mawsoni exploratory fishing in Divisions 58.4.1 and 58.4.2 (2016–2022) CCAMLR Working Group on Fish Stock Assessment, Hobart, Australia, 10 to 20 October 2022, 2022 (Ref: 16948)
Category 2: International meeting papers

In this paper, we report on fish bycatch during exploratory fishing activities undertaken in Divisions 58.4.1 and 58.4.2 during the period 2016 to 2022. Fish bycatch was composed of at least 14 species or species groups. In 2021 and 2022, exploratory fishing occurred in Division 58.4.2 only…

Ecology and management of invasive Poa annua on sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island XXXIII SCAR Biennial meeting and open science conference, Auckland, New Zealand, 25-28 August 2014, 2014 (Ref: 15506)
Category 3: Poster

Poa annua is the most widespread alien species in the sub-Antarctic, occurring on all major island groups and is invasive and spreading on the Antarctic Peninsula. P. annua colonises areas disturbed by human activity, seal wallows, penguin rookeries and glacial moraines.

Sensitivities and response time of three Antarctic marine copepods to metal exposure AMSA-NZMSS 2012 Conference, Hobart, Australia, 1-5 July 2012, 2012 (Ref: 15364)
Category 3: Verbal presentation

As zooplankton is an important food source for consumers, and a major source of recruits to the benthic community, impacts on sensitive zooplankton communities have the potential to significantly alter nearshore marine ecosystems in Antarctica.

Sensitivities and response time of three Antarctic marine copepods to metal exposure 2nd Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC)-Australasia Conference, Brisbane, Australia, 4-6 July 2012, 2012 (Ref: 15365)
Category 3: Poster

Understanding the sensitivity of Antarctic organisms to metal exposure is essential … for developing Antarctic specific Environmental Guidelines to manage contamination risks. For … the first time…

The Science Case for PILOT III: the Nearby Universe Publications of the Astronomical Society of Australia, 2009 (Ref: 14013)
Category 1: Peer-reviewed literature

PILOT (the Pathfinder for an International Large Optical Telescope) is a proposed 2.5-m optical/ … infrared telescope to be located at Dome C on the Antarctic plateau. The atmospheric conditions at Dome C … deliver a high sensitivity, high photometric precision, wide-field, high spatial resolution…

Oxygen hypothesis of polar gigantism not supported by performance of Antarctic pycnogonids in hypoxia Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences, 2009 (Ref: 13740)
Category 1: Peer-reviewed literature

Compared to temperate and tropical relatives, some high-latitude marine species are large-bodied, a phenomenon known as polar gigantism. A leading hypothesis on the physiological basis of gigantism … posits that, in polar water…

Proposed intrumentation for PILOT Proceedings of SPIE 7014, 70144N1-9, 2008 (Ref: 13757)
Category 3: Conference paper

PILOT (the Pathfinder for an International Large Optical Telescope) is a proposed Australian/European optical/infrared … telescope for Dome C on the Antarctic Plateau, with target first light in 2012. The proposed telescope is 2.4m diameter, with overall focal ratio f/10…
