The Australian contribution to the Chemistry-Climate Model Initiative: results from the Ref-C1 hind cast simulation. Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (AMOS) National Conference, Hobart, Australia, 12-14 February 2014, 2014 (Ref: 15176)
Category 3: Verbal presentation

Preliminary findings from the Australian contribution to the Chemistry-Climate Model Initiative (CCMI) are presented. This initiative builds on the 2nd Chemistry Climate Modelling Validation (CCMVal-2), Atmospheric Chemistry & Climate (AC&C) and other global modelling.

Investigation of ACCESS climate models response to recent ozone perturbations over Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (AMOS) National Conference, Hobart, Australia, 12-14 February 2014, 2014 (Ref: 15177)
Category 3: Poster

The ACCESS 1-0 and ACCESS 1.3 now have a set of 3 historical ensemble members which include the late 20th Century and early 21st Century (2020) simulations. Recently we have just completed a new set of experiments designed to investigate the impact of the perturbation in ozone since 1960.

Annular Modes and Stratosphere-Troposphere Coupling in Chemistry-Climate Models. Stratosphere-troposphere Processes and their Role in Climate (SPARC) 2014 General Assembly, Queenstown, New Zealand, 12-17 January 2014, 2014 (Ref: 15175)
Category 3: Poster

This study aims to assess the ability of climate models to reproduce observed stratosphere-troposphere coupling. Coupling between the stratosphere and troposphere is examined via the Southern and Northern Annular Modes (SAM and NAM). These modes…

Trends in Total Column Ozone from Australian and New Zealand Dobson Sites. Stratosphere-troposphere Processes and their Role in Climate (SPARC) 2014 General Assembly, Queenstown, New Zealand, 12-17 January 2014, 2014 (Ref: 15174)
Category 3: Poster

The Southern Hemisphere mid-latitudes, particularly the area around south-eastern Australia and New Zealand, has been suggested as one of the regions where ozone recovery might first be detected…

Patterns of Southern Hemisphere Climate Change and their Relationships. Stratosphere-troposphere Processes and their Role in Climate (SPARC) 2014 General Assembly, Queenstown, New Zealand, 12-17 January 2014, 2014 (Ref: 15173)
Category 3: Poster

Trends in surface atmospheric variables, namely temperature, wind speed and direction, cloud cover, and precipitation, display subtle patterns that are likely linked to climate change and the major modes of climate variability. In particular…

Quasi-Stationary Rossby Waves in the Southern Extratropics: An Examination of Meteorological Reanalyses and Climate Model Simulations. Stratosphere-troposphere Processes and their Role in Climate (SPARC) 2014 General Assembly, Queenstown, New Zealand, 12-17 January 2014, 2014 (Ref: 15170)
Category 3: Poster

Large-scale zonal asymmetries in the climatological spatial pattern of atmospheric variables such as geopotential height, temperature, and trace gas concentration are primarily dictated by the characteristics of quasi-stationary Rossby waves (QSWs).

Characteristics of Inertial Gravity Waves in the Antarctic Stratosphere. American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting, San Francisco, USA, 9-13 December 2013, 2013 (Ref: 15163)
Category 3: Poster

A decade of radiosonde observations of wind and temperature in the troposphere and lower stratosphere have made it possible to compile a climatology of low-frequency gravity waves above Davis, Antarctica (69S, 78E). Wave characteristics, extracted using wavelet analysis [Zink and Vincent, 2001]…
