Summary

The borehole BHQ, 430 m deep, was drilled in Law Dome, Antarctica, by the Australian National Antarctic Research Expedition in 1977. The core from BHQ was estimated to contain ice layers for about 5000 a, and was sent partly to China in 1983 for studies in detail. The studies we have done include analysis of ice fabric, compression-annealing experiment, acoustics test, analysis of isotope of hydrogen and oxygen and of trace elements in the core. Li Jun et al (1988) have reported the location of BHQ and the analysis results of ice fabric.
