Summary

High precision multispecies trace gas measurements of Law Dome ice have been produced for the last 2000 years. The new records of CO2 and CH4 compare very well with the published Law Dome records of the last 1000 years. The new measurements are used to confirm the changes observed in these records, fill in gaps in the sampling and extend the record to 2000 BP with high sampling frequency and high temporal resolution. The new measurements confirm some variations in the published records, which are hard to explain with our current knowledge of the carbon cycle. The confirmation of the published CO2 and CH4 records indicates that the variations during the Little Ice Age period are indeed significant. As a consequence of the multispecies approach, measurements of N2O and CO were also obtained for the past 2000 years.
