The Ecological and Resource Modelling (ERM) and Fish and Fisheries Ecology Groups were established under the Antarctic Marine Living Resources (AMLR) Program to provide information that can be used by Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), and by the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA), to regulate fisheries in Antarctic and sub-Antarctic waters. These groups provide tools for developing the management procedures for these fisheries, including software to assess the status and yield of commercial species as well as assess the status of ecosystems.

Generalised Yield Model is a flexible tool for combining functions of recruitment, natural mortality, growth, maturity and fishing mortality to analyse and explore population scenarios based on historical and future harvest strategies.

CMIX fits a mixture distribution to length-density distributions derived from net-survey data. It uses the maximum likelihood estimation to provide estimates of the contribution of individual cohorts to the overall length distribution observed in a sample.
