Today was probably the best weather we've had the whole trip.
Winds were less than 15 knots all day and in the morning, the mist lifted above the plateau and the helicopters got moving, shifting cage pallets of Return to Australia cargo from shore to ship.
They also took some materials for the Macquarie Island Modernisation Project down island to the field huts at Bauer Bay and Brothers Point.
The LARCs were unstoppable yet again, tackling some big surf to get to shore.
They brought a tractor and two Polaris (Polarises? Polarix? Polarii?) vehicles back to the ship, as well as crates and cage pallets.
The last of the outgoing Macquarie Island expeditioners joined the ship, including the summer station leader.
She has done an extraordinary job, coordinating the resupply and all the project work with the voyage management team. Hopefully there's a few quiet hours for her now on the Observation Deck, watching the world go by.
We put a pause on LARC operations at about 2.15pm because of the wave action on the beach and then at 3pm decided to call it a day.
Pretty simple plan for tomorrow – get the last remaining people and LARCs on board. If time and conditions we'll allow get the last few remaining items of cargo via LARC and deliver the last couple of MIMP items to Brothers via helo. Then we make preparations for departure and head for Hobart.
Thanks to everyone for an amazing effort.
