A day to rest, sleep and recharge our energy levels after 10 days of aviation and watercraft operations. People taking the time to enjoy a cooked breakfast prepared by the master chefs in the galley, get a little exercise in the gym, wash some clothing or just enjoy a lie down and read a book. There is definitely a change in the pace and busyness onboard today.
We are stooging back and forth along the Island enjoying the bird life, glimpses of the Island through the mist and the always engaging seas to gaze upon. A chance for a lot of us to call our families and friends, catch up on administration and prepare for tomorrows operations.
This evening we are preparing for tomorrows aviation and watercraft operations, dispatching cargo from the holds destined for the Island and retrieving cargo being returned to Australia. Return to Australia cargo is made up of scientific samples, medical samples and equipment, machinery, personal effects, rubbish – of course not forgetting our most important objective, receiving our returning personnel. We will welcome another eight Macquarie Island Winterers onboard tomorrow and look forward to hearing of their adventures on the Island.
REGARDS: Brendan, Jenn, and Nick
