Today started with wild winds and snow flurries along the decks but when the sun came up, the skies cleared momentarily and the light on the snow-dusted slopes of Macquarie Island was just spectacular.
With winds gusting to 50 knots at times it was not the day for helicopter operations or for passenger transfers by LARC. A group of hopefuls got their thermals on again and put their bags in the hallway – again - but it was not to be. We do thank them for their patience while we try to get them ashore.
The LARCs soldiered on with cargo though, braving the icy conditions to continue moving critical Macquarie Island Modernisation Project (MIMP) materials to shore.
The kitchen staff are keeping us all well fed with gourmet delights for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – and for those who want for more there is always some other delectable treat or a biscuit near to hand.
REGARDS: Brendan, Jenn, and Nick
