Comments

The steam home covers four time zone shifts with the ship currently observing (+7 UTC), Coordinated Universal Time. By the time we reach Hobart, we will be observing (+11 UTC) and then a few days after our scheduled arrival to Hobart we will fall back one hour to (+10 UTC) as daylight savings time ends across Australia. Sleep patterns will no doubt be disrupted.
As a little background, the meridian line through Greenwich, England, is considered as the reference point for longitudes. This line is also known as the Prime Meridian and is set as 0° longitude and it divides the Earth into the Eastern and the Western Hemispheres. For every 15 degrees of longitude east or west, solar time changes by 1 hour.
All time zones are then defined by their offset from UTC. The offset is expressed as either UTC- or UTC+ and the number of hours and minutes. As Nuyina sails for Hobart, we move from west to east from the 75E meridian to the 135E or four time zones.
Regards, Chris & Andrew
