Nuyina is making way towards Mawson in favourable conditions. The next things on our list, besides enjoying the scenery as we glide through open water and crunch through some sea ice, is to finalise our plan for the helicopter flight to Mawson with some important equipment.
Currently, we are waiting in anticipation for the forecast of a favourable weather window to conduct the operation. Forecasting is provided remotely from Australia and the Bureau of Meteorology team use several models that provide input into their analysis. Sometimes, they are consistent and sometimes not, tomorrow's weather picture is not yet consistent or clear.
The models will be updated soon with the latest data and the forecaster will provide another information package and brief; then we will look to confirm tomorrows plan. The saying you often hear onboard is: we plan so it can change. The hope is tomorrow saying will be: I love it when a plan comes together!
Regards, Chris & Andrew
