Comments

The blizzard arrived as predicted and the wind maintained a study state above 50kts for the majority of the night and morning. Nuyina again demonstrated fine sea keeping ability, sitting very comfortably in the accompanying sea and swell.
The ship's crew remain busy with maintenance and drills and the expeditioners are planning on operations for tomorrow with what is hoped to be another cargo and project support day at Mawson.
Tomorrow's work in support of the science includes trying to catch a Skua (a predatory seabird that is about 60cm long, heavily built with a brown body and white sing patches) that has a GPS tracker attached – not an easy task. There have many helpful suggestions on how this could be best done but its been decided to leave it to the experts and not spend time making a human size Skua costume just in case.
Regards, Chris & Andrew
