Comments

The Mawson winter team has departed and are now ashore, the beginning of their year, the 77th ANARE. The ANARE, Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions, had its humble beginnings in 1947 with a landing at Heard Island followed by Macquarie Island. As always, this winter team will make their own imprint into Australian Antarctic history.
The rest of the day has concentrated on getting essential Cargo into Mawson and commencing support for some important science related projects. The weather today has been kind and the forecast has another day or two of favourable conditions for operations.
Regards, Chris & Andrew
