Yesterday was a day of icebergs and ice flows including C-18B. C-18B is an iceberg that stretched over 20 miles long and filled the port side horizon as we approached. As the afternoon came and went, we passed the tip of iceberg C-18B, like a turning mark and headed towards Davis.
The morning started with our arrival into the Davis anchorage and a day perfect for helicopter operations. It may not be as sunny as the " Riviera of the south" is known for but it's still a nice day to visit Davis.
The Nuyina team working closely with the helicopter pilots and crew are making quick work of the personnel transfer to Davis and the movement of 25 sling lifts (cargo moved in on a wire rigged underneath the helicopter) to shore. At this pace, Nuyina will be on our way towards Mawson later this afternoon, having completed our second Station stop in this tour of East Antarctica.
Regards, Chris & Andrew (Nate is for now ashore at Davis)
