All on board are happy and well. Today we'll cross the Antarctic Convergence zone. The seas remain relatively flat with thick low level cloud. We're starting to see snow flurries for the first time on this trip. We've complete an emergency drill this morning with ship's crew; a simulated fire. This involved the deployment of fire & BA teams, and the recovery of a 'patient' (a manikin) to the ship's hospital. Compliments to the Ship's Master and his team, and to San and Sally, our ship's doctor and nurse.
Yesterday afternoon we ran various briefings (including refuelling) and vehicle inductions for those who'll have an on station roll. We've finalised Dr hand-over arrangements and anticipate have refuelling and watercraft ops rosters finalised by COB Monday 18th. Work continues on the RTA manifest. A substantive draft of the Resupply Ops Plan has been issued for comment yesterday arvo to Station and others. A planning meeting is scheduled for station tomorrow morning.
ETA estimates remain unchanged. We will likely be at the whale mooring location on the morning of the 20th Dec. This gives us an ETA at Casey early afternoon of the 21st Dec.
Regards
Keith & Nick
