Comments

It begins. Cargo operations are underway at Davis Station. The Davis resupply operation is an "over ice" operation that sees trucks driving 1.3km out to Nuyina over ice that is 1.7 – 1.8m thick, receiving a load and then transporting it back to its station destination. And repeat. With 620,000kg of cargo to discharge from the ship and approx. 300,000kg to load onto the ship to return to Australia, a methodical, steady pace is required. A few curious Adelie penguins came by to have a look at proceedings, but quickly lost interest, lay down and unperturbed by the goings-on, had a nap.
