Davis Station is affectionately known as "The Riviera of the South" and while I've never been to The Riviera (French or Italian), I'm not certain that today's conditions are what gives Davis this title. Wind gusts of over 50 knots (92km) have meant that cargo activities were cancelled for the day and instead the day is being well utilised to embark on essential handover and station familiarisation tasks with the new Davis team. With the ship population now halved, meal times are a much quieter affair and the queue for the coffee machine more acceptable. I'm not sure the same can be said for those across the ice at Davis Station.
