Comments

Last night we left the fast ice patch that has been our testing ground for the past week and started our trip towards Davis. This included an evening cruise along the front of an impressive tabular (rectangular shaped) iceberg, which was reported to be over 6.5km long! Today we find ourselves 18 nautical miles (33km) from Davis Station in 60 knots (110km) winds and stormy seas. After the comfort of the fast ice, it seems that some onboard have forgotten what life is like on a rolling ship and have needed to retreat to the respite of their cabins. When are we going to get there? That's the question on everyone's mind. True to Antarctica, that depends on the weather. As soon as the weather starts to ease, we'll be on our way, keen to be parked up in front of Davis. All I can say with certainty is that it will not be today.
