Comments

The great turn continues. With a 5nm diameter, we have covered over 14km to create a half circle in ice that is, in places, well over 2m thick. We are soon to complete the turn and again break out into the open water. Following this, we will undertake some more straight forward manoeuvres in the ice before setting off for Davis Station. After a month onboard, experiencing some of the best sea ice features that Antarctica has to offer, it will be quite a change of scene to arrive in front of Davis station and see the coloured buildings in the rocky landscape of the Vestfold Hills. And even more for those at Davis, the sight of Nuyina parked in the fast ice in front of station and the new, eager faces of the 77th ANARE.
