Comments

After successfully collecting some measurements of ice thickness yesterday afternoon, we were then able to perform a couple of key manoeuvring tests during our departure from the fast ice area last night. It has been great to tick a few more tests off the list, particularly when we had thought the winds had thwarted our efforts. Today we are back in open water as the winds gust above 40 knots and prefer to be clear of any large sections of fast ice that may choose to dislodge itself. We hope to stay in "Wineglass Bay" until the weather eases, the fast ice here proving to be just the type of ice we need for further testing. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for our resupply, with expeditioners receiving briefings regarding the refuelling and water transfer operations that will be undertaken once we are at Davis.
