With air temperatures hovering around 2 degrees and sea temperatures slightly less, a distinct Antarctic nip is in the air for those brave enough to venture outside. Saturday saw a break from the Field Training schedule which was replaced by an emergency muster drill (all present and accounted for) and a look at the ship's Group Survival Kit, for use in the incredibly unlikely event that we would need to abandon ship onto the ice Shackleton-esk style (but that's another story from another era). Tours of the ship's engine room continue, like clockwork, every afternoon and are thoroughly enjoyed by all. Tonight, we turn our clocks back an hour to gradually start the shift to Davis Station time, which is currently 4 hours behind ship time.
