Yesterday's blue skies and sunshine were replaced with grey skies and a brisk wind. The wind abeam (from the side) of us, has us slowing a little to make the ride a bit more comfortable. The tables tops in the mess have been "flipped" in preparation for rougher seas ahead. Let me explain. The tables, when conditions are calm, resemble more or less, a standard dining table. In preparation for a rolling ship, the table top can be flipped over to a top that has a raised lip around the side (to block stray peas, cutlery and anything else that may want to take a slide) and some non-slip matting to hold plates in place. The seas are expected to increase slightly tomorrow, breaking us into our Southern Ocean transit, with confidence that our dinner will be secure.
