Into the furious 50's. 2m seas and afternoon sunshine isn't feeling particularly furious and all are grateful for that. Expeditioners were kept busy today with engine room tours, field training and the regularity and reliability of three delicious meals. The field training program helps expeditioners prepare for life in Antarctica, which, regardless of ones role on station, is hugely influenced by the weather and the environment around them. Today's training was an introduction to understanding sea ice. For everyone onboard, their first experience at Davis Station will be stepping off the ship onto a frozen, floating ocean. While that might sound slightly perilous, rest assured that the ice is well tested and is strong enough that for our resupply operations trucks will drive on this frozen sea, transferring cargo to and from the ship.
