The flight took off for Mawson in brilliant late afternoon sun and returned just over an hour later after delivering its important cargo. The two helicopters were de-bladed, then tucked away and lashed down in the hanger for the trip back to Hobart.
It's the last operation on the Antarctic continent this year for Nuyina. There is still a couple more things to accomplish on the voyage home, the deployment of one and recovery of another whale mooring in a couple days' time. As always, ship life hums along with watches being kept, drills being done and expeditioners finish up reports.
