It seems that the auroras are getting better with each passing night. Our Voyage Management Trainee was 'loosing it' it was so awesome. Her excitement was 'out of control' as she was watching the purples and reds streaming out of the sky over the ship. Definitely worth being woken in the middle of the night to witness these amazing light shows.

We had a reasonably heavy snow shower this morning. It is fascinating as the sky darkens and the snow falls. As we sail headlong into it, it is almost like a 3D movie as the snowflakes come directly at you and hit the bridge windows. The air temperature has dropped by a few degrees since yesterday and is now hovering just above 0 degrees. Looking like we will hit negative temperatures tomorrow as we travel towards 60' S.

Amongst our watercraft operator compliment we have a Field Training Officer and he is running some field training sessions for our Mawson wintering expeditioners. Today's training is in Sea Ice Travel.

Cheers
Leanne, Simon and Amy
