Today saw may up bright and early on the bridge marveling at the ice and wildlife around such as the snow and giant petrels. Given our more stable conditions, an opportunity was taken to deploy and test the hydro-acoustic gear. This gear is part of the sea-ice science program that will be undertaken in the pack-ice. All equipment worked well, and the scientists are ready and eager to arrive at position in the pack-ice, so long as it coincides with good weather! The bribes to the Met team continue... The first sea-ice observation was made today as part of the solid-state oceanography program. Last night Sprunky had a full house for his Crop Circles talk - some truly beautiful patterns! He also treated us to the MacQuarie Island Midwinter Film 'Eradication'. Today, Wal is repeating his talk on 'Afghanistan' for those that missed out the first time. A special occasion BBQ will be held tonight followed by a 'head shave' for those who wish to shed their locks and raise money for Camp Quality.
