A search and rescue (SAR) team will be selected from competent expeditioners for each station and will undertake additional training in the conduct of search and rescue activities. SAR training begins in Australia before departure and continues on station.

A list of required clothing will be issued prior to the Tasmanian based training. Waterproof coats and pants, food, sleeping bags and other necessary field equipment will be provided by the AAD, as well as transport to and from the training venue.

The field training programme makes frequent references to the AAD Field Manual, the AAD First Aid Manual, and the Environmental Code of Conduct for Australian Field Activities in Antarctica.

You are issued with these references and should carry them at all times.
