Comments

A momentous occasion for us today as the team achieved the AAD's deepest ever live video stream (1647m). The towed camera frame was flown ~ 5m above the sea floor and recorded footage for ~15min before the package was recovered. From the screens in the science operations room we were able to see live video from the seafloor and we even spotted a few sea stars! These trials have set us well on the way to be able to support this capability in future marine science voyages. We are now deploying some test weights and a continuous plankton recorder (CPR) via the A-frame to trial more over the stern scientific deployments. Preparations will then begin for our transit back into port tomorrow morning.

Regards,
Rick & Imojen
