This morning we woke to wind and rain. The gusts began at 50kts, but have since grown to 60, 70, and even 80kts. Helicopter and boating operations were clearly out of the picture. Instead, we have been stooging up and down the east coast of Macquarie Island. No one on board is complaining. We are all tired from eight days of operations and are relishing the view of snowy peaks, penguins, and ocean from the comfort of the Observation Lounge. Even with no operations, however, there is still work to do. Nuyina's crew are always busy running the ship and keeping us safe. There are reports to write, operations to plan, and cargo to manifest. The weather looks more promising tomorrow and we hope to get our helicopters back in the air and boats back in the water for another day of resupply.
