With our arrival at Macquarie Island expected tomorrow afternoon, final preparations are well underway for arrival on station. More briefings completed, but also with calmer seas around us it was a good chance to take those on board around the cargo holds of RSV Nuyina for a good look at the 484t on cargo we need to get ashore via helicopters and LARCs (Lighter, Amphibious, resupply, Cargo) also known as watercraft with wheels. Getting some fresh air is also important and many of us are taking the time to walk the decks and stretch our legs throughout the day, none more so than our most popular expeditioner, Curly the biosecurity dog. With regular walks on the back decks and around the ship, Curly is having a ball and should be well rested and ready to go when we arrive to help sniff out any stowaway vermin and keep Macquarie Island a pristine wilderness.
