Comments

A quiet morning aboard the RSV still nestled in towards Buckles Bay on the leeward side of the Island. Crew have been busy making the vessel ready for sea. Many of the returning V5 expeditioners enjoyed their first night back in their cabins after a lengthy stay ashore supporting the resupply operations. For many, a sleep in this morning until a fire muster and abandon ship drill was held, with the outgoing Macquarie Island team trying on their immersion suits for the first time. Very shortly, the ship will depart its anchorage, turning in front of station before returning down the East coast of the Island, once again capped with cloud and mist. At time of writing we can see some orange clad expeditioners on station making their way up to the look out in front of 'Ham Shack'. Incoming station leader Pete and his team have been with us since departing Hobart and in that time were an integral part of the shipboard community. Their efforts with community and social activities aboard the ship and then in supporting the station resupply have been outstanding and we wish them a very safe, happy and productive time on this remarkable Island.

This evening, we will be back on the ocean with the prospect of a decent sized swell.

Regards,

James and Brendan.
