Another morning with both island and ship shrouded in mist. Conditions supported LARCs and helicopters ferrying a mix of station bound and Return To Australia (RTA) cargo from station to the ship before the cloud base descended rendering further helicopter flights out of the question. With the ship's external lights burning bright throughout the day, LARCs have continued to operate on a mild ocean swell disappearing into, and out of the mist conveying cargo ashore, expeditioners aboard and our film crew out onto the water.

This afternoon, the majority of our companions from the 'mighty' 74th ANARE leave the island that has been their home for the last year. Exchanging the 'agricultural charm' of Macquarie Island station for the sharp lines and spotless interiors of the ship where showers run steaming hot and fresh fruit abounds. These expeditioners, led by outgoing station leader Derek, are to thank for their outstanding preparations in the lead up to and during resupply and down island activities. We are delighted to have them aboard and to bring them home to their families and friends.

And the retrieval of expeditioners from station does not, the end of a resupply make. There remains cargo and RTA to process and we intend on seizing every available weather window to accomplish this.

Regards,

James and Brendan.
