Under a clear blue sky our colleagues aboard the ship from Tas Parks are liaising with ship's crew to safeguard the biosecurity measures aboard the vessel in anticipation of arrival at Macquarie Island. Stretching their legs after the pre-departure quarantine period, expeditioners have improvised a series of walking and running tracks around the ship's helicopter and external decks, whilst others sit outside with a book or phone call to friends and family whilst soaking up the warmth of the late Tasmanian summer. Within the labyrinthine network of office and meeting spaces aboard the ship, voyage supervisors continue their schedule of voyage planning and coordination sessions, whilst members of the watercraft team finalise preparations and stow locations for an assortment of shipboard science projects that they will support during the voyage. The ship's galley has seen a steady stream of inductions for volunteers ready to roll up their sleeves and assist with food preparation and dish washing, Our film crew in residence from White Spark Projects, have taken advantage of the opportunities afforded by ship's crew to commence filming in and around the ship, including with the use of drones. The regular evening 'fireside chat' continues its run of record attendance (voluntary as always).
