Comments

Fuel pumping ended before 8pm last night and the final total came up just short of a million litres. Pack up of the hose and the associated ice lines was completed before midnight meaning that the midnight to 4am shift were able to be sent back to bed.

We have spent today reuniting the station and the Happy Dragon. First of all, Nuyina edged out of the harbour around midday and the Happy Dragon passed by on our starboard to take its rightful place in the harbour's sweet spot. Watercraft and watercraft operators were exchanged between ships and shore while equipment was sorted and last minute visitors accommodated. In the afternoon, an unforeseen snow squall appeared to remind us of just how quickly the weather can change down here.

After spending a few hours rotating on the spot to accommodate some satellite antenna commissioning work, Nuyina finally said goodbye to the Windmill islands. We will now travel down to the vicinity of the Vanderford glacier to seek some colder air conditions. These are required to test the vessels firefighting systems ability to work in cold conditions.

We thank everyone at Casey for the effort to make the most of the incredible weather window that was presented to us and wish Happy Dragon a better run with the weather than she's had to date.
