Comments

Karen arrived in the Rad Van (Radiation Van) to check her data,
refreshed but suddenly nervous. To get to the Rad Van Christian our
Field training Officer has had to accompany her across the deck to help
open the door to the van, which is exposed to the full force of the 50
knot blizzard blowing outside. Karen is now happy as the scintillation
Counter has been behaving whilst we are relatively motionless, parked in
the ice.

Other scientists are catching up on sleep and work, ready to head out
onto the ice once the conditions have improved. Currently the blizzard
is peaking in the high 40's and low 50 knots. It should start to drop in
speed soon. When it is clearly on the decline, in the mid to low 30's
and when visibility has improved beyond 100m, if the ice is still intact
we can get back out and continue working at ice station 4...

Cheers

Andy, Brett
