Comments

Macquarie Island was bathed in sunlight as the AIVIQ settled into position at 0600 this morning.

We seized advantage of the light winds and near zero swell and were able to achieve two significant voyage objectives.

1)   We have now embarked all members of the 75th ANARE for return to Hobart

and;

2)   We have completed cargo operations with 100% of southbound discharged and return cargo loaded.

The next 24-48 hours will be spent readying the ship for sea and tomorrow we will exfil our watercraft operators (who stay on the island for the duration of our stay) and load and secure our IRB.

While today was most definitely a team effort, I'd like to single out my DVL Matt Orbell for his hard work and well-designed cargo plan that was executed with precision by shore personnel, watercraft operators and the AIVIQ deck crew.

REGARDS: Simon and Matt
