Comments

After a challenging few days, the intrepid expeditioners aboard the AIVIQ are becoming increasingly buoyed in the knowledge that tomorrow they'll awake to views of Macquarie Island (as long as there's no fog or mist).

Today was spent finalising briefings and ensuring all gear and equipment going ashore is clean and clear of any biosecurity risks.

Expeditioner disembarkation likely won't be until Thursday due to operational reasons, with cargo discharge and refueling operations commencing over the following days.

As we sign off, there is laughing echoing down 4-deck as some of the team play table tennis on a hastily converted conference room table. Some are relaxing in the lounge watching movies and others are enjoying an early dinner in the mess - well in advance of the 5-6m swell rolling towards us from the west.

Regardless of what the next 12 hours brings - tomorrow, we arrive at Macca!

REGARDS: Simon and Matt
