Comments

It is another lovely sunny day out here in the Southern Ocean. A gentle swell is pushing us along to Hobart and the outside temperature is above 10°C – balmy!

Last night we watched a couple of vintage Antarctic films. The first was the story of Australia's last Antarctic huskies. The film depicted the final dog sled journey from Mawson to Kloa (33 days!) and the sad departure of the huskies from Antarctica. The second film described the establishment of Mawson Station in 1954. The living conditions and safety standards experienced back then are quite the contrast to the luxury and regulations of today.

It has been very quiet on the ship this morning. We put our clocks forward for the final time last night. We are all feeling rather tired and our body clocks quite confused after jumping ahead six hours in the last fortnight. This afternoon, we will meet up outside for some pre-dinner drinks (non-alcoholic) before feasting on pizza in the mess.

REGARDS: Sam and Anthony
