The Main Lounge was packed for a second-night in a row, this time to hear Mark talk about the epic 12-day trip to Kloa. In September last year, six expeditioners from Mawson set out in two Haaglunds to visit a remote Emperor Penguin colony. The photos and stories from their adventure were fantastic. Mark has also printed out an account of the same trip from 1965, which tells a tale of dog-sledding and skiing across the same landscape.
After the presentation, we watched the fourth episode of Chernobyl. The last episode will be screened tonight after Bec's presentation on the Auster Penguin Colony. This Rookery is to many the gem of Mawson. It is the largest Emperor Penguin colony in the Mawson region and is within day-tripping distance from station during the winter months.
In other news, the weather is definitely getting warmer. A squall passed by the ship this morning and it rained! For the wintering expeditioners this is the first rain they have seen in over a year. Our ETA remains 08 March
