Comments

After spending the day tucked behind Anchorage Island to shelter from the strong winds, we are finally on our way home. We departed Davis at 1030 this morning. The ship blew its horn as we pulled away and the wintering team set off a number of flares to wave us goodbye. We are the last people they will see until summer.
It is a cold, grey day out here as we make our way slowly through the sea ice and icebergs. Adelie penguins are being spotted on the ice flows and our dedicated whale-watching team are keeping their eyes peeled. Felix is leading our sea ice monitoring science project and has gathered together his team of volunteers to observe and record the ice. This is the last science project for the voyage.
The winds and seas are due to pick up again tonight. We won't experience too much motion until we leave the shelter of the ice. Once we do, it will be time to secure all our loose objects and pray our sea legs haven't been lost after all the time spent on DP and land.

REGARDS: Sam and Anthony
