Last night Captain Brandon announced the winner(s) of the t-shirt competition. Each voyage has a dedicated voyage shirt. Deputy Voyage Leader Anthony is in charge of organising the V6 shirts. Earlier this week he invited all expeditioners to submit a design, with entries due 1700 Friday. The official announcement was made at the nightly 1900 meeting. Captain Brandon has decided to incorporate two designs – a fantastic montage of the AIVIQ between Australia and Antarctica, designed by Comms Tech Andrew, and some hand-painted Antarctic birds designed by Voyage Leader Sam.

To top off a great Friday, a number of expeditioners were rudely woken up at 2300 to see their first aurora. The photos have been shared excitedly today and it certainly looked beautiful.

Today has been like any other day at sea. We continue to enjoy the calmer weather and, like always, Tim has been the one to spot wildlife. We all mustered at 1300 for the weekly drill - this time it was abandon ship. Tonight, after the 1900 meeting, is Round Two of the AIVIQ Grand Prix. This will be a relay-style drag race down the Main Deck corridor. Go Green!
