Comments

Our ship track must look a little peculiar as we are make various course alterations to avoid a number of unfavourable weather patterns. Captains are very good at scooting around weather systems when they can to minimise the discomfort of people on board. We are currently heading NW to scoot to the west of Heard Island and turn NE and head for Fremantle.

This morning we all participated in our second abandon ship drill. We did one earlier in the voyage when half of the expeditioners and crew went to the 'drop craft' and the others to the life rafts that are deployed by davits or can be thrown overboard. The groups swapped so if you went to the 'drop craft' last time you went to the life rafts this time.

This was another of a number of different types of safety drills we have had throughout the voyage including fire. All safety drills are extremely important, not only on all ships but in all organisations to ensure everyone knows where to go, what to bring (life jacket etc) and what to do if the event of an incident.

Just looked of my cabin window and noticed it is snowing and a beautiful albatross (unsure what kind) gliding over the ocean surface – stunning birds.

Cheers
Leanne and Jacob
