Yesterday afternoon the camera download and maintenance boat trip was successfully completed at three sites on two islands, Gardner & Magnetic. It was amazing watching the IRBs heading back to station with the sun shining off the water as their backdrop. We work hard on our voyages and along with the sense of satisfaction when objectives are successfully completed, seeing the sights we are lucky enough to see is a privilege.
We have now successfully completed two of the three resupplies our voyage is tasked with, we are now on our way to Mawson to do the third. The anchor started to be raised at 6.30pm last night and with a slow port side turn and a blast from the horn we slowly made our way out of Prydz Bay. This is not an easy feat. As passengers we get to sit back and take in the view but for the crew it is a different story. They are concentrating on finalising our readiness for sea and the Captain is making small course adjustments allowing us to safely exit the Bay.
Our ETA at Mawson is Friday morning.
Thanks for the farewell, Davis. All on Happy Diamond wish the summer team returning home in a couple of weeks a safe journey and the wintering team a safe and successful year.
Cheers
Leanne and Jacob
