We finished discharging cargo yesterday with a total 539,737kg delivered to Davis. There is a wonderful sense of satisfaction to have delivered 100% of the cargo which enables the sustainment of the station for another 12 months. We hear the radio calls and can see from the ship the hive of activity going on at the station putting containers in their allocated locations or unloaded as necessary. Refrigerated containers set at -18 degrees and +4 degrees have been unpacked into the freezers and fridges on station plus the dry food unpacked and put into their storage locations.
We started to load RTA (return to Australia) cargo onto the Happy Diamond yesterday afternoon and are continuing loading this morning.
Another cracker of a day for cargo operations. Prydz Bay is calm and remains ice free so no annoying ice floes getting in the way of the watercraft which have a straight line between ship and shore.
Cheers
