The strong winds experienced yesterday grew stronger overnight, they are currently averaging around 40-50 knots (75- 90kph) but steadily dropping. Needless to say there are no cargo operations today. The winds are forecast to continue decreasing tomorrow so there may be an opportunity for the Davis resupply team to come to the ship to go through the resupply plan and confirm finer operational details prior to commencing operations. The wind and swell have helped the ice to start breaking out from the local islands where it has been holding tight with large ice floes sailing past us in the last 24 hours.
With the ship sitting on anchor facing into the wind we are comfortable and warm.
Cheers
