We are expected to arrive at Davis this evening at 6pm.
We will not be undertaking any operations this evening and it is unlikely for the next day or so due to the current forecast not within the watercraft operating limits. When we do have the opportunity, we will bring the Davis resupply team to the ship to discuss and confirm the finer details of the resupply. We have one expeditioner that is transferring from Casey to Davis so he will go with the resupply team when they go back ashore. If the weather holds and depending on time we will also send the Deputy Voyage Leader and the ship's Chief Officer ashore to conduct the cargo compliance checks. Once all this occurs and all are ready (and if the weather plays nice) we can commence the discharge of Davis' cargo. We will be discharging the cargo prior to backloading the RTA cargo to the ship using one barge and one pontoon/workboat.
You can feel the excitement on board at our arrival at Davis tonight and the weather has turned it on for us. We are sailing in smooth seas and the sun is shining into my office. When I look outside my porthole I get an awesome view of the occasional iceberg and the Antarctic petrels flying around enjoying the air currents created by the ship.
Cheers
Leanne and Jacob
